Global High School’s assistant principal Jamie Mills presented the Global High School Student of the Month Award for October 2017 to Marisa Garcia.

Marisa, the daughter of Liliana Gonzalez, is a junior at Global High School. Marisa excels academically and won an award for her position in the top 20 of the state for creating an app for smart phones.

This is her second year in the Interact Club. She is receiving this award because of her many dedicated service hours. She spends numerous hours working at Hidden Miracles which is her favorite Interact event. She also enjoys the Red Bags event where volunteers put kits together for the Salvation Army’s annual Angel Tree Project. This year she was an important part of the club putting over 1,500 bags together.

In her spare time, Marisa enjoys reading and doing activities with her friends. Marisa plans to join the U.S. Army and eventually become an FBI agent.

It is an honor for Rotary to acknowledge such an outstanding student as Merisa Gomez and she has been presented with a plaque with her name engraved on it. This plaque will hang in the halls of Global High School for many years to come.
